THERE has been success for Oswestry Tennis Club after its third team clinched promotion with a match to spare.

The team, captained by David Clough have had a terrific season in Group 4N and a 4-0 victory against Boughey Garden’s third team has secured their elevation to Group 3 next season.

The team, where David plays with Linda Clark and Dave Bass plays with Nia Christoforou, overcame a poor start to their season, losing their opening match but have been undefeated since, coming through strongly to gain promotion so convincingly.

Meanwhile Oswestry Tennis Club’s second team have completed their season with a superb 4-0 victory over Wem’s first team.

The team, captained by Brett Hollywell who partnered Clare Hann and Kobe Jones who partnered Millie Hann, have now done all that they can and must wait for results to be favourable elsewhere to achieve promotion.

But know that they are now guaranteed to at least retain their place in the tough Group 3 county wide division for a fourth consecutive year.

Oswestry’s fth team, capably captained by Joanna Dalietos have also now completed their fixtures.

Excellent wins over Woore 2 by 3-1 and Hinstock 2 by 4-0 placed them in a position whereby a draw in their final match against Hinstock 1 would have been enough to have earned them promotion from Group 5N.

However player unavailability and tough opposition transpired to work against them and despite a battling performance they were not able to achieve the two points that they needed.

The squad consisting of Joanna, Richard Hann Steve Winter, Keith Grice, Jessica Hann and Elspeth Cumpston have had an enjoyable season and look forward to the start of the Summer League season next April.
