MORDA United host Ludlow on Saturday as the Weston Pools Park club bid to keep pace at the top of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier League.

The Yellows are joint top with Hodnet with both on 18 points but the latter have two games in hand.

With Newport Town and Shrewsbury Juniors within striking distance the villagers need to maintain their fine form to keep pressure at the top and hope for a bumper gate for the eagerly-anticipated clash.

The Yellows go into the game on the back of a 6-0 win over Dawley Town last week in a match which saw the evergreen Danny Barton roll back the years with another inspiring performance culminating in a double.

Seasoned campaigner Barton is in a rich run of form scoring five goals in his last two games and will no doubt be looking at extending that run against the south Shropshire side.

Meanwhile manager Michael Barton will be hoping to have a full strength squad.

A club spokesman said: “We look forward to welcoming Ludlow when we will be hoping to stretch our run to six consecutive wins.

“The team have been playing well of late so should be confident in continuing the good form and hopefully getting the three points.”

Morda will hope local rivals Gobowen Celtic can do them a favour at Newport with Celtic also showing signs of improvement having climbed the table to ninth place following a convincing 4-1 victory over Ludlow last weekend.

Elsewhere St Martins travel to Abbey Hey and Ellesmere Rangers journey to West Didsbury in the North West Counties South League.
