TNS bid to complete one of the greatest achievements in their history when they take on Viktoria Plzen in the second-leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference on Thursday.

A Declan McManus hat-trick and Blaine Hudson goal earned the Oswestry side a famous 4-2 first-leg win in Cardiff last week to leave TNS on the brink of a place in the group stage qualifying round.

Coach Anthony Limbrick backed his squad to finish the job in Czechia on Thursday.

He said: "We have good competition across the units at the moment and the players are pushing each other with their performances which is pleasing.

"As a coach it is what you want to see."

Limbrick reserved special mention for defender Blaine Hudson whose goal opened the scoring.

"Blaine has had a persistent knee injury since May so has not had a pre-season so for him to come in and put in a display like that against such quality opposition is very pleasing.

"He gave us the platform to go on and win the leg."

Limbrick also highlighted the role of summer signing McManus who continues to repay his £60k transfer fee with scintillating displays in Europe.

"A lot of work went into the deal to bring Dec to the club, he is a really good character," said Limbrick. "His hold up play allows us to get up the pitch, especially in Eurrope and his third goal was exceptional against Viktoria

"He also scored two great penalties and is someone who enjoys that pressure."

Two late goals took the gloss of the night but Limbrick insisted they would galvanise his troops in the second-leg.

"The way we defended and how deep we were I thought they would always probably score to be fair but the last one was the real killer.

"The referee gave four minutes injury-time but it was well over that when they scored the second and the referee put his whistle in his mouth as the ball hit the net which we were disappointed with but then when you consider the quality of the opposition it is hard to have too many complaints.

"It is important to remember we are playing two away games and while we were annoyed to concede and wanted that clean sheet we must remember we were up against a top side.

"We go out there in the driving seat and we would have taken a two goal lead before the first-leg going out there."
