PUPILS at a school outside Oswestry have used a physical activity challenge to help raise thousands of pounds for charity last May half-term.

The pupils at Bryn Offa CE Primary School, in Pant, took part in a fantastic fundraising event – 5k in May – in any way they could.

Teacher Lucy Maxfield, from Bryn Offa, admitted the school was delighted to see the pupils embrace the challenge and raise more than £4,500.

"The challenge was for all pupils taking part to complete a 5k distance over the half term any way that they could," she explained.

"The idea for the fundraiser was not only to raise money for the school but also to encourage children to get outdoors and keep active during half term.

"Children and staff walked, ran, cycled, skipped, hopped, jumped, rode horses and scooters to complete their distance and thoroughly enjoyed taking part.

"Those who completed the challenge and raised some sponsorship were rewarded with a certificate and medal.

"The whole fundraising event has raised an outstanding £4,622.50!

"All the staff at Bryn Offa would just like to express how proud they are of all our pupils."
