What started off with no interest in a career in films, has now led to attending university to study a film degree for one local lad.

Jack Davies, from Oswestry, was studying at North Shropshire College before taking on work experience with well-known town production company Rocking Horse Studios.

As part of his course, he worked with the company for a week, seeing what life was like in the film world, where he found his calling.

"I had no interest in making films, but after spending the week with Rocking Horse and Gareth Thomas from the company, it really opened my eyes," said 19-year-old Jack.

He decided to try out the film company, thanks to his tutor Charlotte Williams at NSC.

During his time with Rocking Horse Studio, Jack edited a mental health awareness video that was eventually shown in Oswestry's Kinokulture cinema.

He is now going on to study a Film and TV degree at Aberystwyth university.

Gareth Thomas, from Rocking Horse Studios, said: "Jack is a great example of how work experience can really help someone learn more about what they want to do.

"He was great during his week with us - he filmed on location with us and even helped audition for our upcoming feature film."

Gareth said that with more work experience students joining the company in the next week, he hopes that they can be inspired by Jack's progression.

Jack said: "For the future work experience people, I would just say throw yourself into the opportunity – don't be afraid of doing anything."
