Beauty therapy students went head-to-head at North Shropshire College recently.

Imogen Humphreys and Sophie Evans are preparing for the upcoming UK Skills Contest and were examined on their ability to demonstrate required skills in order to be chosen to represent NSC in the regional competition.

Cherida Lauriello, a previous NSC Beauty student who was placed second in the regional heat for Beauty Therapy, and first overall in the UK Skills final, came back to her

roots to judge the competition and examine the students’ work.

After an intense competition, she chose Imogen as the winner and Sophie as runner-up, to both represent NSC in the Beauty Therapy regional heat.

Sharon Cooper, curriculum manager for Commercial Services at NSC, said: “We were delighted that the competition was judged by Cherida. She is an inspiration to learners, excellently representing the Beauty Therapy Industry.

"I am looking forward to the UK Skills Regional Competition, and entering the chosen learners in the Beauty Therapy Industry category.”

In addition to judging the competition, Cherida was also on hand to talk to the learners about the expectations beauty therapy employers have from their employees. She was able to give outstanding career advice to the students, drawing on her experience of setting up her own business, Lauriello Lifestyle, which deals in non-surgical treatments from nails through to spray tanning and make-up, four years ago.
