An Oswestry-based physiological company has won an award for reducing patient waiting times.

Physiological Measurements was recently awarded the Medilink West Midlands Outstanding Achievement award for their development of a high street community ultrasound clinic located at Gravesend shopping centre in London.

The clinic aims to run seven days a week to relieve pressure from GP surgeries and hospitals. They have successfully reduced waiting times in hospitals from five to six weeks to 99 per cent of patients being offered an appointment in 20 days, 70 per cent of them in 10 days.

They have also increased the number of their employees by 20 per cent, providing employment opportunities for those in Oswestry and further afield.

Co-founder Jon Pither hopes that winning the award will continue to raise awareness of the good work Physiological Measurements are doing. He said: “We are delighted that our hard work has been recognised, and winning the Outstanding Achievement award means that we can continue to grow as a business and also continue to be a provider of community non-invasive diagnostic services, in partnership with the NHS.

“The new clinic has already helped local health services and has increased patient access, convenience and speed when delivering community diagnostics.”
