Apple appears to have leaked the names of its new iPhone line-up on its website just hours before its live event to launch the products.
The leak, discovered in new product page listings of the Apple.com sitemap by the site All Things How, appears to confirm the three new phones will be called the iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR.
It follows previous rumours that the company will introduce a larger screened 6.5in iPhone – allegedly the XS Max – alongside the new 5.8in display iPhone XS, which is the same size screen as last year’s iPhone X.
The sitemap listings also reference the iPhone XR, believed to be the cheaper handset with a 6.1in LCD screen to replace the iPhone 8 as the company’s entry-level device.
The listings have since vanished as Apple took the online Apple Store offline – customary before its live events – ahead of the new devices being officially unveiled in California on Wednesday evening.
If confirmed, the 6.5in iPhone XS Max is expected to be the company’s most expensive to date, surpassing the £999 iPhone X introduced this time last year.
All three new phones are expected to follow the iPhone X design in that there will not be a home button and instead facial recognition technology will be used to unlock the device.
Reference to a new Apple Watch, and two new sizes of changeable Watch strap, also appeared in the listings, appearing to confirm rumours of a redesign to the wearable device.
The company has been affected by leaks in the past. In 2016, Apple’s Twitter account accidentally leaked the iPhone 7 before the handset was unveiled by the company.
The tech giant will live-stream its event on the social media platform for the first time on Wednesday as it looks to draw in a larger audience.
