Chirk Cricket Club officials say they have made some “really positive strides” over the winter as they prepare for the new season in division two of the Shropshire League.
Liam Walker has stepped into the role of Head Coach of Senior Cricket, a move the club believes will strengthen the overall structure and sharpen standards across both senior sides.
There has also been a major upgrade to facilities at Chirk, with the installation of a brand new net complex.

The club expects the revamped practice area to be a huge asset for player development across all age groups, giving juniors and seniors the opportunity to train more often and at a higher intensity through the season.
On the recruitment front, Chirk are hopeful of announcing one significant signing in the coming weeks.
There is real excitement around the younger talent emerging at the club.
Two players in particular, Harry Lunt and Alfie Shaw, have been earmarked as ones to watch after showing strong potential with bat and ball.
The hope is that both can gain some first team exposure in division two this summer while also making a major impact in division eight cricket with the second string.
A club spokesman said: “Targets are unashamedly ambitious, with the aim for both senior teams to win their respective leagues. After a winter of hard work, coaches and players alike feel they have given themselves the best possible chance, and say it would be a fantastic achievement for Chirk Cricket Club.”
