ANDREW Swarbrick has been named the Henshalls Shropshire League One player of the year.

The Chirk star enjoyed a stellar campaign for the north east Wales club and was also named as the division team of the year captain.

Swarbrick totted up 794 runs with a top knock of 147 while also toppling 39 wickets to deservedly earn the player of the season accolade.

Chirk ended fifth in the first division with Swarbrick playing a key role for the Colliers.

Meanwhile Knockin and Kinnerley star Adam Smith’s displays for the Nursery Ground club earned him a place in the second division team of the year with selectors also naming him the captain.

Smith ended the summer with 565 runs, the third highest in the league, while also claiming 27 wickets.

Knockin ended fourth in the table with 280 points.

Ellesmere’s George Duncan was also rewarded for his displays throughout the summer with a place in the league team of the season.

The Meresiders ended the campaign in ninth position with Duncan playing a pivotal role throughout the summer.

Duncan claimed 29 wickets during the summer, the third highest in the league.

Frankton IIs star Grant McKay earned a spot in the third division team of the season while Knockin IIs player Dave Jones picked up a place in the fifth division team of the season while also being chosen as captain.

McKay claimed 36 wickets to end the summer as the most prolific bowler in the division.

Jones amassed 381 runs for the club during the summer.

Knockin player Terry Mutton has also been included in the Sunday League One team of of the season with hos 16 catches from wicketkeeper the best in the division.
