PHIL PARKINSON has proved he is the right man at Wrexham plenty of times before but now he has got to go and do it again.
That is the view of Kevin Nolan, a former Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United and West Ham United midfielder, after the Racecourse outfit suffered the heaviest defeat under the 58-year-old.
Wrexham were thrashed 6-0 by West Ham at The London Stadium on Friday, leaving the Reds with one with from the opening seven Championship games and seven points to show for their efforts.
It has been a fantastic journey for the club, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, since Parkinson took charge and he led Wrexham to a record-breaking three successive promotions before just missing out on a play-off spot last season.
Although it's been a slow start to the current campaign, Nolan is backing Parkinson to turn things around.
"It's the first time we've started hearing sniffs of discontent against Phil Parkinson, isn't it? Is he the right man?" he told BettingLounge.
"People are starting to question it because he didn't get over the line last year.
"He didn't have a great start this season, but then they went to Millwall recently and won.
"So, I think that's the reality of it. What he has to do is prove it again. He's proven it before, plenty of times.
"He just has to go and prove it again because they've firmly backed him, I believe.
"But how long do they wait if they feel he isn't the man to do it? It will be interesting.
"I think by December or Christmas-time, I would imagine they’ll be hoping he has them in and around the top end of the Championship to ensure they have a good run and a strong chance of getting into the Premier League next year."
Nolan says Parkinson's credentials cannot be ignored after consistently delivering the goods and believes he has compiled a squad that can challenge for a place in the Premier League.
"Phil Parkinson’s achieved promotions before, so he knows what it takes to get over the line," he added.

"While I don't think he has secured a promotion to the Premier League specifically, he has earned promotions from every other league.
"Whenever he is given a squad that is capable of getting promoted, he has consistently delivered.
"I believe the club feels they have a promotion-winning squad, so the remit will be to reach the Premier League. Phil is very experienced, so he will be well aware of what is expected of him."
