Oswestry author's latest novel is Shropshire-set mystery

Dave Andrews has published Chase to the Cut, his 15th book and the final instalment in the Inspector Probert Trilogy.

Part detective novel, part love letter to the Shropshire landscape, the story follows Detective Chief Inspector Gary Llewelyn Probert as he investigates two serious crimes—a man attacked in his hotel room on the outskirts of Oswestry and a murder in Ellesmere during the town’s annual Winter Festival Lantern Parade.

Mr Andrews said: "The response to the Inspector Probert series has been overwhelming.

"As well as telling me how much they enjoy them as detective novels, many tell me that they’ve really enjoyed reading about places they’re familiar with.

"Some even tell me that they follow the routes Inspector Probert’s takes around our town and local villages during his investigations!

While Chase to the Cut completes the trilogy, it stands alone as a complete story.

The investigation at the heart of the novel leads Probert and his team to uncover a mysterious link to the Beatles, particularly John Lennon.

Mr Andrews is Reader/Writer in Residence at Oswestry Library, where he gives talks on English and Welsh literature and offers advice to fellow writers.

He has written 14 previous books, many of which are rooted in the local area, including The Oswestry Round, Gobowen to Everest and Wilfred Owen: Poet of Oswestry.
