Residents have been asked to avoid an area near Shrewsbury as firefighters battle a ‘large’ fire.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service have asked resident to avoid the Bicton area north of Shrewsbury as they tackle a large-scale field fire.
The fire service said that a “significant number” of firefighters were in the area this afternoon (July 7) tackling the blaze.

A spokesperson for the service said: “Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is currently responding to a large field fire in the Bicton area, north of Shrewsbury.
“A significant number of fire appliances and specialist vehicles are in attendance, and crews are working to bring the incident under control.
“To help ensure the safety of the public and allow emergency services to operate effectively, we ask that people avoid the area if possible and keep roads clear for emergency vehicles.
“Thank you for your patience, understanding and support while crews deal with this incident.”
