Search the Public Notice PortalNight-time road closures are set to begin next week to support long-awaited safety improvements on a key road between Powys and north Shropshire.
Survey works will start on the A483 between Llynclys and Llanymynech on June 1, in a move that has been described by North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan as an "important step forward" in improving one of the region’s most dangerous junctions.
The surveys, being carried out by National Highways, will be used to develop detailed plans for upgrading the crossroads, with long-term options including replacing it with a roundabout.
Ms Morgan said: "These survey works are an important step forward.
"People have been waiting far too long to see real progress at this dangerous junction, so it’s welcome news that work is now moving forward on a long-term solution.
"For years not only have I heard from residents, parents, and local businesses about the fear and frustration caused by this junction, I’ve seen near misses first-hand.
"Far too many people have witnessed or been involved in serious collisions there, and that’s why this progress is so important."

The weeknight closures will be in place between 9pm and 6am until June 12.
Ms Morgan said the surveys mark an essential early stage in developing a permanent solution to the safety issues at the site.
She said: "Local people have made it crystal clear that sticking-plaster fixes are not enough.
"We need a junction that is fundamentally safer, and a roundabout remains the best option.
"I know these overnight closures will cause inconvenience, but it is a price worth paying if it helps to deliver lasting safety improvements."
National Highways has stated that, where it is safe to do so, access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained in emergency situations.
Access to frontages, The White Lion pub, and The Garden Lodge will also be maintained with the help of an escort crew.
The MP added that she would continue to press National Highways to progress quickly from the survey phase to delivery of the improvements.
