Car and pedestrian involved in Chirk collision, say police

An incident which shut a main road through Chirk on the weekend involved a car and a pedestrian, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Church Street at 1.52pm on Saturday (April 25).

North Wales Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service, and Wales Air Ambulance attended the scene.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.52pm on Saturday 25th April to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Church Street, Chirk.

"Officers attended alongside colleagues from Welsh Ambulance University Health Trust and Wales Air Ambulance.

"The road was closed until approximately 6pm."

The Wales Air Ambulance Service confirmed it attended the incident. 

A spokesperson said: "I can confirm the Wales Air Ambulance helicopter attended an incident in that region on Saturday (25/04/26).

"Our Welshpool-based crew was allocated at 13:51 and arrived at the scene at 14:12.

"Our involvement concluded at 15:40."

The air ambulance appeared to land near Wrexham Maelor Hospital after leaving Chirk. 

On Saturday afternoon, police warned of the closure on social media saying: "Church Street Chirk, Wrexham.

"Police are currently dealing with an ongoing incident in the area, we are asking for people to avoid the area for the time being, please.

"We will update you when the road is back open."
