The Ostrich Café has been given a warm welcome by Oswestry since it opened earlier this year and we decided to pop in to see what the fuss was about.

The café on Bailey Street is the latest venture of the popular Raya’s Kitchen based in the market and is based just across the road on Bailey Street.

While the café is a cosily sized, you will not be short of options. The menu is a selection of classics which will suit almost any taste.

The service was excellent, the staff are all very friendly and will help you through any of the choices.

On the morning, I visited I had a real sweet tooth so decided to go for the American pancakes with ice cream with maple syrup and ice cream with a coffee.

All of it was excellent - the pancakes were bang on, a crispy outside with an inside light as air and you really feel indulgent without ever being sickly.

However, no matter what you order you are sure to be casting envious glances at your fellow diner's dishes.

In my case they appeared with dishes such as mouth-watering thick bacon sandwiches for brunch or bright, light lunch offers such as Quiche Lorraine with salad and chutney.

There is also a rainbow of cakes and pies by the counter which will test your ability not to go back into your wallet and take something home.

The Ostrich Café offers comfort food at its best and is well worth your time.
