SUSPENSION of a specific boiler used at the Kronospan factory in Chirk has now been lifted.
In January, Natural Resources Wales (NRW) suspended activity at the site over fears the company was not complying with its Environmental Permit.
Kronospan, a wood panel manufacturer based in Chirk, is required to monitor emissions from the site and provide such data to NRW.
However, NRW stated in January that recent monitoring showed that limits 'have not been met' by the company.
As of March 4 though, that suspension has been lifted, NRW has confirmed.
A spokesperson for NRW said: "Suspension of use of a specific boiler at the Kronospan factory, in Chirk, has been lifted (from 04 March 2026).
"This follows improvements seen in emissions results following the additional monitoring required by NRW. Further notices, stating specified steps to be taken and the provision of further information, are being served on Kronospan."

They added: "These require enhanced monitoring from a specific boiler and cyclones for a minimum of three months.
"This is to provide additional assurance and protect the environment and local community. We will continue to attend the site regularly and work with partner organisations.
"Our formal investigation into the emissions breaches from the biomass boiler in November 2025 continues."
Kronospan has been approached for further comment.
