A telecoms firm has backed a youth-focused fundraising campaign.

Ocean Telecom has donated to the High Sheriff of Shropshire’s Youth Awareness Fund, a campaign that has raised nearly £20,000 to support youth charities across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.

The fund, launched as part of the High Sheriff of Shropshire’s campaign, aims to highlight the challenges facing young people and direct support to organisations making a difference at grass-roots level.

Ocean Telecom spokesman Jeremy Rose said: "On behalf of all at Ocean Telecom, we are happy to support the High Sheriff of Shropshire’s Youth Awareness Fund.

"We wish her all the very best and are proud to play a small part in helping to support young people across the county."

The scheme takes a youth-driven approach, with funding decisions guided by a panel of young people from across the county to ensure that those most affected have a say in where funding goes.

High Sheriff Jane Trowbridge said: "I am very grateful to Jeremy Rose and the whole of Ocean Telecom for so generously donating to Youth Awareness Day.

"It is wonderful to see local businesses supporting our young people."

The Shropshire Community Foundation will administer the fund, overseeing the distribution of grants to youth charities throughout the county.

Ruth Martin, a trustee at the foundation, said: "We are delighted to be working with Jane to help support youth charities across the county.

"Her campaign has highlighted key issues faced by young people in Shropshire and shown that they are willing to step up and make their voices heard.

"Now it’s time for the rest of us to step up and match that."

Ocean Telecom’s contribution joins a growing circle of support from businesses and organisations committed to investing in the next generation.

The fund will back initiatives focused on wellbeing, education, opportunity, and engagement for young people.

The campaign will move from raising awareness to delivering long-term support for youth services as the High Sheriff’s year concludes at the beginning of March.

The Youth Awareness Fund is part of a wider effort by Jane Trowbridge to spotlight the needs of young people and ensure that resources reach charities delivering frontline impact in communities.
