A Gobowen man who stole a variety of items from shops in Oswestry has been sentenced.

Paul Wilkinson stole a range of items from Home Bargains and Poundland, including a Covid test and an intruder alarm.

The 61-year-old pleaded guilty to three separate theft offences at Telford Magistrates' Court on Monday, February 2.

The court was told that Wilkinson had stolen a Covid test and a can of Vimto, worth £4.48 from Home Bargains on September 11, last year.

He then stole a powerbank and an intruder alarm worth £14.98 from the same shop on December 19, last year.

And he stole various products worth £27 from Poundland on January 23, this year.

Magistrates handed a two-year community order, which will include 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

He must also pay £19.46 in compensation to Home Bargains.

Magistrates said they would not make an order for Wilkinson, of Cornwall Avenue in Gobowen, to pay court costs as they felt the compensation should take priority.
