A sparking electrical pole led to a fire and a power cut near Oswestry.
A fire in Henlle near Gobowen on Monday evening (December 8) led to a power cut for most of the evening in the surrounding area.
The fire saw residents in Gobowen and other nearby properties go without power from 6pm until 2am.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the crew from Oswestry were called to the scene at 6.30pm and found a “sparking” electrical pole.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 18:28 on Monday, 8 December, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Gobowen.
“On fire appliance was mobilised from Oswestry.
“Reports of sparking electric pole, no damage to electric pole could be located by Fire Service Personnel.
“Crews completed full investigation and details have been reported to national grid to investigate further.”
