A popular YouTuber who rates bad towns in the UK has explained why he included Oswestry in his latest list.
The YouTuber, who goes by the name 'Turdtowns' covers "the most obscure places in the UK” and reviews their situation.
And he placed Oswestry in the top five of the most rundown towns in Shropshire.
In his review, he said: “I thought that this was a great town. I included it due to the way it has been mishandled.
“There’s lots to do in this beautiful town, gormless tourists can be seen on every corner.
“So you are probably wondering why is it on the list?
“It’s simple I would like to draw attention to the rot in the town centre. This place is supposed to be incredible, but each year it gets worse.”

He added that as he was walking round, he heard “tourists saying they won’t be coming back” and “were shocked at how rundown it has become”.
The review added: “It is grand and attractive, but if we keep telling that narrative nothing is going to improve here.
“It has actually got more boarded up shops than anywhere else I visited on this trip. I’m surprised that high-end retailers want nothing to do with it.
“It seems like it would be a good fit. If Cotswold villages can do it, why can’t Oswestry?”

The review added: “Oswestry has shockingly cheap house prices of £256,000, which may be due to how far it is from the local towns, and there is no station here either despite only being a few miles off the main line – probably get that sorted out”.
“Definitely visit here and if you can ignore the high street closures there’s nothing else to be annoyed about, it’s not really a turd town - but it could be if neglected much longer.”
