A YOUNG girl was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Oswestry on Friday morning, ambulance staff have confirmed.
Police closed Unicorn Road from 8.30am onward following the reporting of a road traffic collision between a vehicle and a child.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that after paramedics from its service attended, the Wales Air Ambulance in Powys was called to the scene to take the child to hospital.

They also confirmed the child was left with life-threatening injuries following the accident and is undergoing further treatment.

“We were called at 8.25am to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Unicorn Road in Oswestry,” they said.
“One ambulance, a paramedic officer and an Air Ambulance from Welshpool attended the scene.
“Upon arrival we found a child who was the pedestrian.

“She was assessed and had sustained life-threatening injuries.
“She received advanced trauma care at the scene and was conveyed to hospital via air ambulance for further treatment.”
According to Google Maps, Unicorn Road remains closed between Windsor Road and the junction with Whittington Road.
