SHROPSHIRE Council has confirmed why it was present at an incident close to Oswestry earlier this week.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) firefighters from Oswestry were sent to Twmpath Lane – which connects the A5 and Whittington Road, passing the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital – at around 6.30pm on Monday, September 30.

They were for reports of a fuel spill on the road following a road traffic collision.

According to SFRS’s incident log, firefighters were joined by officers from West Mercia Police and Shropshire Council.
A spokesman confirmed that Shropshire Council staff were on scene to aid with any potential road closure.
He said: “Shropshire Council’s maintenance contractors were instructed to attend the scene of a road traffic collision at Twmpath Lane in Gobowen, Oswestry on September 30 to assess the situation in respect of a clean-up and any potential road closure.”
