A POPULAR wildlife scheme in Ellesmere is making the call for one final push of support to help modernise its operating systems.
Heronwatch provides a service monitoring bird numbers on Moscow Island – in the centre of the Mere – and earlier this year hit a fundraising target for match funding to install new cameras to watch the nesting birds.

However, the group then did not meet the threshold of match funding but has decided to push on and try to achieve the £35,329 it needs to pay for the equipment.
The fundraiser closes on Wednesday, October 9 with the group having reached £26,733 so far and a spokesman called for more help on social media.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported our crowd funding appeal,” they said.
“We've only got about 10 days left, so if you haven't pledged already please do so now! And if you have, please can you check your pockets for a little bit more?”
