Emergency services were scrambled near Oswestry after a car flipped on to its roof.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance service were all called to a crash in Whittington this morning (September 8).

The fire service said they were called to the scene after reports of a crash on Church Street.

When they arrived at the scene the people in the car had managed to get free without the assistance of emergency services.

The service then made the car electronically safe to avoid a fire.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 04.50am on Sunday, September 8, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service Fire Control received a call reporting that a Road Traffic Collision had taken place in Whittington.

“One fire appliance was mobilised from Oswestry.

“Crews used the Cutters/Spreaders to deal with the incident.

“Also at the scene of the incident were the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

“The Road Traffic Collision involving one saloon vehicle which had come to rest on its roof.

“The occupants had self-extricated prior to Fire Service arrival. Crews attempted to make the vehicle electrically safe.”

The condition of the people involved is unclear at this time.
