The Oswestry Twinning association has paid tribute to their former chairman who has sadly passed away.
The association said their well-loved former chairman and treasurer Brian Willis had shown great “commitment and enthusiasm” through his work – making a great deal of friends in Oswestry’s twin town of Combs la Ville.
Brian had worked with his wife Pat, both of whom have been long-time supporters of the association, and to whom they also paid tribute.
In a statement the twinning association said: “It is with sadness that we report the death of Brian Willis after a long period of poor health.
“Brian died on Thursday August 15.
“Brian, together with Pat his wife, have been longstanding active supporters of the Twinning Association.

“Brian served over the years as both the association's treasurer and chairman. They have actively helped to build the association's finances with their commitment, support and help in running many events.
“Thanks to this commitment and enthusiasm, they have also made many friends in Combs la Ville and enjoyed extended visits, staying on to visit other parts of France with their host family and in return showing their hosts many parts of Britain.
“Our thoughts are with Pat and the family at this time.”
Brian's funeral is on Monday, September 9 at 11:30 at Shrewsbury Crematorium, London Road Shrewsbury, SY2 6PS, this will be followed by a reception in the Wynnstay Hotel Oswestry to which all are welcome.
