A WHITTINGTON man was jailed for robbery last week as part of an incident that saw thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Shane Roberts, 46, stole a packet of cigarettes and a lighter, worth £12.45, from Wayne Thwaites in Oswestry on January 19, 2022.
He was also accused of dangerous driving after an incident at Morrisons petrol station, in Beatrice Street, where he was also accused of causing more than £15,000 in damage to the shop frontage.

His case, much-delayed by the barristers’ strike of around 2022, was set to go to trial earlier this year but the defendant did not attend.
However, on Friday, August 9 his case had been listed for a pre-trial review at Shrewsbury Crown Court in front of Recorder Justin Taylor.
But he was instead sentenced at the hearing, receiving an immediate custodial sentence of eight months.
