A TV star patron of an Oswestry dog charity has said she was delighted to judge its latest show on Sunday.
Josie Sedgewick-Davies is patron of Hector’s Greyhound Rescue and was at Oswestry Showground – her third visit – for the show where she handed out the rosettes and prizes to winners.
The Liverpool-based actor, who will be running 200km around the city’s Sefton Park in a month to raise money, said she was honoured to be able to provide her voice for rescue greyhounds.

“I’ve taken this very seriously,” she said.
“Selecting just three dogs to win was absolutely horrendous.
“It was great for me to have all these people watching me – it’s like being on the stage and I’m used to that.
“But to choose out of all of the 10 dogs each time, that was terrible.
“I had to say to my cousin who was here with me ‘how do I do this because they’re all gorgeous’.
“I would like to have given them all something – I wanted to get a bag of sweets and given them all out.
“I was thrilled to be ask to do this – I love these events and always want to do it.
“I definitely needed to wear my suncream – my app said that it was going to be cloudy.
“Hector’s means so much to me and it’s one of my favourite things to do, and I’m so glad to be part of it.
“I’m so happy that I can use my little platform that I have to do something good for something that I’m passionate about which is rescue dogs.
“They are man’s best friend and we should do as much as we can to protect them – we should be the ones to give them a better life.
“This is my third time here – I did it the year before last, prior to anything coming out and not many knew who I was.
“But this is the biggest one where I’ve asked to do the judging on my own and I’ve been promoted.”
Hector’s founder Hayley Bradley said she was delighted by the turnout, though impacted by the hot weather, and explained why the fundraiser was needed.
“Considering the temperatures were high, I want to thank everyone for coming,” she said.
“Everyone was well catered for with shaded spots, vets and medics for the humans, cooling off areas and wet towels.
“Thank you everyone for coming – it saves a dog’s life.

“If people don’t come out and support us, a dog will die from a lack of support without that funding.
“There’s thousands of racing greyhounds leaving the track each year and there’s not enough homes and recue centres for them.
“We need the resources to cater for them – we take them and give them socialisation to give them a better life.”
