A SMELL of gas at Oswestry’s McDonald’s Restaurant on Wednesday afternoon was enough for Shropshire firefighters to be called out.
One crew from the town was sent to the fast-food outlet in Shrewsbury Road before 5.45pm after a report of a gas or chemical smell.
Upon arrival, firefighters found no evidence of any leaks and a Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesman confirmed no further action was taken.

They said: “There was a call to a smell of gas or chemicals.

“A full inspection was carried out by fire service personnel with no obvious smell of gas or chemicals.
“Advice was given to staff.”
A stop message was sent to SFRS control confirming no further support was required at 6.35pm.
