AN 'EXTREMELY WELCOME' community hub celebrated its six-month milestone over the weekend.

On Sunday (June 9), The Old Milk Bar in Chirk marked a successful first six months with an unveiling of their new crafts and wellbeing workshop space, as well as a visit from the new mayor of Wrexham, Beryl Blackmore.

The talented exhibitors and volunteers were honoured to welcome the mayor along with her consort Dorothy Lloyd - both of whom were very enthusiastic about the amazing range of locally handmade items, art, eco refills, recycling opportunities and potential that The Old Milk Bar now offers.

The whole venture, based on Church Street, is entirely run by volunteers and has built from a four day week to now being open seven days from 10am to 4pm.

The Old Milk Bar team said: "We opened six months ago and we have been overwhelmed with the talent of many artists and crafters in the region.

"We would like to thank all of our exhibitors, volunteers, customers and community for making our first six months a great success."

OTHER NEWS:

Some of the attendees from the event were kind enough to leave a few comments, which included: "This is a long-awaited and extremely welcome community hub. It's a wonderfully warm place, which I love visiting, whether as a customer, a volunteer or to exhibit my products. The ladies are wonderful and it is a fantastic addition to the village. I wish them every success."

During the visit the Mayor’s driver, Luke Kettlewell also gave a very interesting talk about the mayoral chains of office.

The next phase of development for The Old Milk Bar is to fundraise and apply for grants to improve the accessibility and facilities throughout the shop but particularly in the workshop space.
