MORE details have been released ahead of Oswestry’s first-ever ‘Green Day’, which will take place on Saturday.

The town’s first Green Day will take place from 10am to 2pm in across the centre, from the Bailey Head and surrounding areas in conjunction with the Saturday market.

Announced last month, this free event will focus on the environment, sustainability and biodiversity and is being organised by Oswestry in Bloom.

Natalie Bainbridge, chairman of the group, said she hoped the day will probe to be both be informative about how to play a part in saving the planet and also have fun.

She said: “We envisage Oswestry’s Green Day being an informative, interactive, entertaining day for all the family and, above all, fun.

“Expert advice on wildlife, gardening, composting, creating wildflower meadows and reusing and recycling will be available from stands on Bailey Head and Cross Street.

“Eco friendly products will be on sale, such as accessories, homeware and jewellery made from reclaimed materials, as well as organic and vegan food.

Oswestry In Bloom members will be in the Willow Garden (opposite the library) with their plant stall.

“The Climate Action Hub will be open at their premises on Bailey St. and more participants will be in the Memorial Hall including “With Love From” – clothing/upcycling.”

Among others, there will be stalls from Chirk Swifts Conservation, Men’s Shed, Oswestry Beekeepers, Plant Power Foods and “Team Sikel” with their handmade items from reclaimed materials.

“Green Day is an opportunity for everyone, old and young, to find out more about what we can all do to support nature, protect the environment and live more sustainably”, said Anne Hendrie, one of the event organisers.
