THOUSANDS of people dodged the rain to take part in one of the biggest events on the sporting calendar on Saturday – the Oswestry Community Games.

The 11th edition of the event took place on Sunday with community groups showing off what they do to VIP guests including disabled adventurer Darren Edwards and new town mayor Councillor Mike Isherwood.

The Bartells, Oswestry’s most popular band, entertained guests leaving lead organiser James Manford delighted with how the day went.
