REVELLERS in Oswestry defied the temperamental weather this Bank Holiday Weekend for another taste of the seaside.
Festival Square, in Oswestry, was transformed again into a beach using 17 tonnes of important sand for people, young and old, to play on for the third year running.
A spokesman for Oswestry Business Improvement District (BID), which laid on the event, said that it was hugely popular with all those who took advantage of it.

He said: “The Bank Holiday Weekend saw a packed out sandy spectacle on ‘Festival Square at The Beach’.
“Organised by Oswestry Business Improvement District (BID) this was The Beach's third visit to town, with children and families thoroughly enjoying the 17 tonnes of finest sand, buckets and spades, all lined by deckchairs, surrounded by the sounds of waves and seagull calls.
“The BID thanked all the local businesses that got involved with the event, and the Yellow Bus crew for all their work.
“The BID team were pleased to see a real boost to the town’s footfall across the weekend.”
Commentors on the BID’s social media praised it for bringing the beach back to the town.
One user said ‘what a lovely weekend – weather was gorgeous and spent with family and friends’.
