A MAN has been put behind bars for breaching a restraining order whilst drunk.
Anton Dixon, of St Mary's Close in Chirk, appeared at Mold Crown Court for sentence on Thursday.
The 33-year-old had been convicted at a previous hearing of one offences of breaching a restraining order.
Alexandra Carrier, prosecuting, told the court that the order in question was imposed by the court in June 2022, and it prohibited Dixon from making contact with a woman named Maria Hughes - until further order.
But on April 8 this year he messaged her asking how she was.
The complainant told him she didn't want any contact with him and he said ok, but later messaged again asking "are you ok?"
He also attempted to phone her.
When he was arrested on April 26, Dixon gave a prepared statement accepting the offence and said he was drunk and on drugs at the time.
He said he regretted making contact.
Ms Carrier said the defendant had 15 convictions for 23 previous offences.
Patrick Geddes, defending, said: "He has amassed a number of convictions, which don't place in the best light.
"There's perhaps an inevitability to the sentence in this case, and he knows that.

"But it was four texts and one phone call, all as part of the same incident whilst he was intoxicated - which is a theme running through his offending.
"It was ill-conceived and impulsive, which is another theme.
"He made full admissions at the police station and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity."
Mr Geddes said while his client didn't wish to make any excuses for his behaviour, alcohol and drugs "clearly play a significant part."
He said the defendant was willing to engage with probation workers to receive support for his issues, which he would not receive if he was sent to prison.
Judge Timothy Petts told the defendant he was "assessed as an imminent threat of serious harm to previous partners."
Given the lack of realistic alternatives open to the court, the Judge jailed Dixon for 16 weeks.
