Oswestry School will open the first co-educational Sixth Form boarding house this September.
The boarding house, a £500,000 refurbishment of Holbache House, was shaped by input from the boarders and intends to provide a 'home from home' for both female and male senior students at the school.
The refurbished building will include features such as en suite bathrooms and communal living areas.
This news comes at a time when Oswestry School has recorded a school roll of 515 pupils this academic year, combined with significant investments in the school's facilities and campus.
Noteworthy upgrades include the recent refurbishment of the Senior School Library, which opened in January 2023, and the new Sigi Faith Sixth Form Centre that began operations in September 2023.
Headmaster Peter Middleton said: "Oswestry School has a strong reputation for innovation and a commitment to providing the best possible facilities for our students.
"Our new co-educational boarding house will provide our Sixth Form students with a unique - and uniquely valuable- stepping stone experience as they prepare for life beyond school, providing a welcoming environment for community, camaraderie and collaboration."
Mr Middleton also added: "As our school motto puts it, ‘We Learn Not for School but for Life’; our new co-ed boarding house will provide our students with further life-ready experiences, and we are all greatly looking forward to the opening of the new facility."
Oswestry School caters to both day pupils and boarders, with approximately one third of its senior school comprising boarders.
Pupil flow into the school spans from the local area to other regions, including Shrewsbury, Chester, and North Wales.
The newly refurbished Holbache House will be managed by house parents Steve and Nicola Schofield.
