Designs in Mind, an Oswestry art studio which works with adults with mental health challenges, has beautifully enlivened the Cambrian Medical Centre with a special commission.

This unique Oswestry studio, also known as an 'arts for health' studio, created the wall mural, digitally printed on peel-and-stick wallpaper to brighten a room designated for talking therapies at the medical centre.

In working with its adult members overseeing public art commissions, design collaborations, and shop products, Designs in Mind bridges creativity and mental health support.

The commissioned mural, which transformed a clinical room into an inviting space, was specifically designed to provide comfort and distraction to therapy patients.

Members of the studio, during morning sessions, drew inspiration from the tranquil Shropshire landscape to bring this mural to life.

OTHER NEWS:

Lead artist Bridie Dunbabin led the project, finalising members' designs into digital print.

Mr Dunbabin, along with the Designs in Mind volunteer team, then installed the mural onto the walls of the medical centre.

Speaking about the project, Carry Wood, special care dental nurse from the Cambrian Practice said: "We are in the early stages of setting up a Dental CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) pathway within Shropshire Community Dental Services and wanted to make the clinical space we will be using a little less clinical and more inviting to any phobic patients we will be seeing in the near future.

"The idea was to design, with the Design In Minds team, a rural Shropshire feeling, using relaxing colours that would create a calming environment and be a distraction/talking point for who ever uses the area.
