Multiple fire crews were called to put out a house fire near Oswestry.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue were called to a property in the Cooper’s field area of St Martins yesterday evening (April 30) after a fire in the kitchen leading to them rescuing the dog from the home.
According to emergency services the fire was related to house was unoccupied at the time the fire was caused by cooking.
A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 8.30pm on Tuesday, April, 30, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as House Fire Persons Reported.
“Three fire appliances were mobilised from Ellesmere and Oswestry. An Operations officer was in attendance.
“Fire in kitchen involving cooking. Crews extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.
“Positive pressure ventilation using to clear smoke logging. All persons accounted for, and one dog rescued.”

Oswestry’s safer neighbourhood team, a part of West Mercia Police, were also in attendance and said they were impressed with how the local community supported the people in the house.
In a statement online they said: “Shropshire Fire and Rescue deployed three appliances after a report of a house fire in the Coopers Field area of St Martins.
“On arrival at the scene firefighters forced entry into the property and dealt with a small kitchen fire. There was no one in the property at the time of the fire.
“The SNT admired the support from the local community given to the victim.”
