Visitors can step back in time this Bank Holiday at Bolton Steam Museum and marvel at the machinery which powered the town's mills.
The museum on Mornington Road, Off Chorley Old Road, near the Morrisons Supermarket, will be staging it popular May Bank Holiday Steamings, whihc will take place on Sunday, May 5 and Monday, May 6 from 10am to 4pm.
The museum's volunteers have rescued and restored 30 old stationary steam engines, which once powered the cotton and woollen mills of the North of England, including five built in Bolton.
Most will be running in steam on these two days only.
The oldest engine is now over 180 years old, and most are well over 100 years old.
A spokesman for the museum said: "Come and see these magnificent examples of Victorian engineering restored and running once again!
"The museum is normally closed at other times, except for volunteers' working days, Wednesdays and Sundays: 11.00 - 3.00 , when visitors are welcome and a few engines can be run using electric motors."
There is free admission and free unlimited parking on the Supermarket car park
