For the first time in the town's history, Oswestry will host its inaugural Pride Celebration throughout June 2024.
The town is prepared to stage multiple events and workshops with the aim of encouraging inclusivity and fostering a sense of community.
The launch event is set for 1st June at the Climate Action Hub on Bailey Street in Oswestry.
The excitement peaks on the 15th of June with the first-ever Pride Parade in Oswestry, intended to unite all segments of the community in supporting the flourishing LGBTQ+ population.
Additional events include a Pride Picnic in Cae Glas Park, where attendees will be treated to live performances by The Derwen Dance Crew, Identity School of Dance and a variety of poets and performers.
Stalls from LGBTQ+ creators, business owners and local groups and charities will also form part of the festivity.
An Oswestry Pride Programme which is sponsored by Santander detailing a full schedule of the events and workshops will be available in due course.
Oswestry Pride's goal is to establish a safe and hospitable space for Oswestry’s LGBTQ+ community, as well as their friends, families and allies.
The celebrations will be utilised as a platform to promote awareness, facilitate education and stimulate dialogue around the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community.
This will be achieved through a range of workshops and talks held throughout the month, graciously sponsored by Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors.
The Oswestry Pride Committee, comprised of volunteer community members, said: "Oswestry Pride would not be possible without the dedication and support of the local businesses, community organisations and enthusiastic volunteers who have come together to make the events a reality.
"We have been incredibly impressed by Oswestry’s commitment to inclusivity.
"The support offered has been truly commendable and Oswestry should feel proud.
"We invite everyone to join us for Oswestry's first ever Pride celebration and be part of this historic moment.
"It is Oswestry’s Pride, and we welcome everyone to come together to celebrate our wonderfully diverse town.
"Together we can create a future where everyone lives safely together with mutual respect, tolerance, and acceptance."
