A TRIO of Reds fans are taking on a trek, in aid of a Wrexham charity.

Wrexham Ramblers, made up of friends Paco, Matt and Ste, who share a love of Wrexham AFC, set themselves a challenge to do something a bit different. After discussing all sorts of ideas, they have decided to walk from the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff to the home of Wrexham AFC.

They are undertaking the challenge in support of Wrexham-based charity Dynamic, which provides a range of services for children and young people with disabilities.

They will set off from Cardiff on Monday, April 22, starting the 130 miles to the Stõk Cae Ras. It's expected to take them five days to complete, arriving at the Wrexham ground on Saturday, April 27, just in time for the newly promoted Wrexham AFC to take on League 2 winners, Stockport County.

On arrival they will make their way across the road to the Maesgwyn Hall, for some well-earned refreshments. Dynamic will also have a fundraising stall in the grounds of the Maesgwyn and collecting tins for anyone wishing to donate to their incredible challenge.

You can follow their journey so far and the event as it progresses day by day, by visiting the 'Wrexham Ramblers' Instagram account. This has also been a fantastic way to showcase some of the children they are raising money for.

Marie Gibson, liaison officer at Dynamic said: "We are incredibly grateful to Paco, Matt and Ste for taking on this mammoth challenge. We know how much time and effort has already been put into their training, as well as the planning and organisation of the event and are very grateful.

"We'd also like to thank all the local businesses who have sponsored their challenge: Bank Bar, BD Performance, Castle Mews Windows, Challenger Business Communications, Cynergy Security, John Barclay Dentist, Prestige Payments, S & S Electrical, Smartsearch Recruitment, Superclean Windows, Top Mark and Wrexham Clothing.

"If anyone would like to join them on the last leg of their journey into Wrexham, they'd be very welcome and am sure they'd be grateful of the company too. We will ensure they receive a warm welcome on their arrival."

Marie added: "We'd also like to thank a very special Wrexham fan over in the US for match funding £500 that was raised over just a couple of days. This was an amazing gesture, and we are very grateful for his support.

"He wishes to remain anonymous but as an individual he has supported a few local charities recently and his awareness raising and donations are making a difference here in Wrexham. Exposure like this would never have been possible had it not been for the success of Wrexham AFC and the investment from our co-owners, their commitment to the club and our town is having a huge impact.

"Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far or shared their challenge. The response so far has been incredible. Whilst we do receive some funding to deliver our services, we still need to raise over £200,000 per year to keep provide all that we do to local children and young people with disabilities and their families. Fundraising challenges like this play a huge part in helping us achieve this goal.

"Every single penny raised from this challenge will enable us to continue our work with children and young people from the county of Wrexham, who access Dynamic services."
