Oswestry Rugby Club has rallied to help their under 15s team captain who has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Hugh Sharpe underwent emergency surgery after being rushed to hospital, and is now being treated at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The local rugby community is now rallying to raise money to help him during his recovery.
A fundraiser has been created by the club to help Hugh’s family with the cost of hotels, train travel to Birmingham, "helping to make Hugh’s recovery as comfortable as possible and providing help with his home schooling.”

This has seen other local clubs looking to help with Chester RUFC, COBRA Rugby Club, Shrewsbury Rugby Club, Telford Hornets RFC and Whitchurch Rugby Club all pitching in to raise money to help with Hugh’s recovery.
John Gibbs, chairman and first team coach at Oswestry Rugby Club, said: “Obviously we at the club are all upset with what's happened to Hugh this week.
“All our thoughts are with Hugh and his parents.”
The club has praised Hugh for his "selflessness, humility and hard work".
In a statement posted online on Sunday, April 14, the club said: “Last week our rugby families world was turned upside down when Hugh was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
“Hugh doesn’t do fancy stuff, I don’t think he has ever scored a try in an Oswestry shirt, but what he does do is battle for his team.
“You’ll find him at the bottom of a ruck, on the line making a try saving tackle, pushing a teammate over the try line and supporting others with big hugs in times of need.
“Now Hugh is in his time of need.”
To help raise money for Hugh, the club will be selling burgers and raffle tickets at their next game on Friday (April 20).
They have also set up a GoFundMe page to help raise extra funds and are also looking for support form local businesses.
