WHITCHURCH Alport lost by a solitary goal as Old Wulfrunians departed Yockings Park with the spoils following a 1-0 Midlands Premier League win on Saturday.
Oscar Barry’s 85th minute strike ensured the Wolverhampton club departed Shropshire with three points.
Manager Adam Shillcock said: “Despite dominating the majority we lacked that bit penetration to hurt the opposition who were in all honesty a poor side.
“For all the possession and dominance we had to concede a late goal as poor as it was feels like we have taken a step back.
“The positive was getting Jacob Edwards some decent minutes in.”
Shillcock insisted there was still plenty to play for as the Midlands Premier League season and set out a target of nine points from their three remaining fixtures.
Shillcock said the arrival of a 3G pitch in the town could not come fast enough for the club with a succession of rain enforced cancellations making for a tough campaign.

He said: “It’s chaos at the moment trying to find alternative venues and rearrangement of fixtures with the weather as it is. It’s been unprecedented.
“North Shropshire and particular Whitchurch is crying out for a 3G facility right now. We have this in the pipeline with Tilstock Road incoming but I feel for the juniors and our women’s set ups also who have been severely by unprecedented weather.
“We have to plan for worst case scenario and the only way we can consistently get football played regularly and enjoyed consistently is with a 3G option.
“The joy of going on a winning run always feels weeks away. I can’t remember a two week window where we haven’t had a cancellation.
“So much preparation goes into organising a matchday on all levels for our volunteers - Whitchurch needs a 3G facility to support and promote the health and wellbeing of its community.”
Whitchurch Alport 1946 fell to a 2-1 defeat at Ercall Evolution with two goals from Jason Clare sealing the spoils while Tom Clive replied for the Reds.
Alport also tasted a 2-0 defeat at home to Church Stretton Town in midweek with goals from Ashley Wells and Asa Dean completing the scoring.
