GOBOWEN’S Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital (RJAH) says it is committed to supporting individuals who report sexual harassment incidents following the publication of recent figures.

Figures published by the RADAR data journalism service showed that there were nearly 100 cases reported of unwanted sexual harassment by patients and fellow staff at the Trust.

There were around 30 cases of unwarranted sexual harassment between staff members in 2023.

Mike Carr, deputy chief executive at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, said the Trust has implemented the NHS’s Sexual Safety Charter.

He also added that the survey, which had 903 respondents from RJAH, showed that three quarter of staff at the Gobowen site would recommend working there.

He said: “As a Trust we are committed to supporting all individuals who speak up about sexual safety and improper conduct, and the figures within the NHS Staff Survey show why we – and the NHS as a whole – must take this issue seriously.

“NHS England recently introduced a new Sexual Safety Charter, and we are fully implementing that within our hospital.

“The latest Staff Survey does also paint a positive picture of the progress we are making at RJAH.

“Across the board, we see improvements on the previous year’s results – and it was particularly pleasing to see 76 per cent of our staff recommending RJAH as a place to work.

“That number is up almost 10 per cent on last year, and is actually the second best of all Trusts in England.”
