THE biggest parking hotspots in Ellesmere have been revealed.

Using data from Shropshire Council accrued from 2018 until May 2023, the biggest number of penalty charge notices (PCNs) were issued at Cross Street Car Park, an off-street facility.

Across the time period, there were 404 PCNs issued at the car park which is the biggest in the town.

Ellesmere has three other Shropshire Council-operated off street car parks, with Spar Bridge Street, Talbot Street and The Mere.

The former accrued 68 PCNs, while Talbot Street had 129 tickets given out with just three for the Mere Car Park.

However, on street parking at the Mereside parking spaces produced 257 PCNs with the highest number of 96 issued during 2020 which saw the area locked down during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Scotland Street was next highest on the list with 191 tickets while Cross Street, which also has on-street parking spaces, had saw 161 PCNs issued.

Another parking hotspot in the town is Wharf Road with 100 PCNs issued while High Street had 65 tickets.

Market Street saw nearly 100 tickets given out.

Other streets were also included in the list but not enough to be considered a hotspot.
