COMMUTERS in north Shropshire are being warned to expect delays on the A5 after a fuel spill between Oswestry and Shrewsbury.

Eyewitnesses have reported that police have blocked off the westbound entrance to the A5 at the Oxon roundabout at around 2.30pm on Wednesday.

Traffic is being directed away from the road, affecting commuters travelling towards north Shropshire and Mid Wales, including Oswestry and Welshpool.

The eyewitness, who did not wish to be named, said that the incident has involved a trailer that has disconnected from its cab on a lorry.

And according to highways monitoring website Inrix, this has led to a fuel spill which has partially closed the road.

It said: “Partially blocked and slow traffic due to fuel spillage on the roundabout. Travel time is ten minutes.”
