A controversial piece of land that is to be developed into electric vehicle charging station is up for sale.

The land next to the A483 near Four Crosses, which has been approved for permission to build a large scale electric vehicle charging station, is up for sale.

The plans for the site were controversial in the area, provoking a petition from nearby residents who were unimpressed with the large scale plans for the site and felt it created issues with road safety.

The plans would allow a developer to create charging stations to cater for up to five lorries, five vans and 44 cars.

In the advertisement for the site it said: "This property provides a rare and unique opportunity to acquire a development site having the benefit of outline planning permission for a vehicle electric charging station and drive thru coffee shop and will be one of the first of its kind in Wales.

"The greenfield site has the benefit of a long frontage to the main A483 and extends in total to approximately 2.47 acres (1 Hectare) with an existing accessway leading directly from the main road.

"Outline Planning Permission has been approved by Powys County Council for the development of an electric charging station, drive thru coffee shop and associated car parking under the reference number 21/0754/OUT.

"Further details are available from the Selling Agents upon request."

When permission was granted for the site in 2022, Planning Officer Gemma Bufton said: "The Welsh Government have identified the recognised need for such developments throughout Wales and especially along strategic travel routes such as this site and therefore there is considered to be an over-riding need in the public interest for the proposed development.”
