A MAN was treated for injuries by ambulance staff after an incident that saw a car collide with a tree in West Felton.

A spokesman for West Midlands AMbulance Service (WMAS) confirmed its staff was called to the incident off in Holyhead Road, which is off the eastbound A5 towards Shrewsbury.

The spokesman said that paramedics arrived at the scene, shortly before 11.10am, and then proceeded to treat the man before taking him to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

He said: "We were called to reports of a car that had crashed into a tree at the junction of Holyhead Road and the A5 in West Felton at 11.08am, one ambulance attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

A number of emergency service vehicles reportedly attended the incident off the A5 close to West Felton, according to eyewitness.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) engines were seen overtaking vehicles on the A5 travelling from Oswestry to Shrewsbury at around midday on Friday.

An eyewitness told The Advertizer that they had seen vehicles from fire, police and ambulance heading to the scene.

They said: “I was travelling towards Shrewsbury from Oswestry on the A5 and a fire engine came flying past me.

“As I got to what I think was the West Felton turn-off for Holyhead Road, I saw police passing in the opposite direction towards the scene and there was an ambulance already heading down that road.”

West Merica Police confirmed it had not attended.
