THE owner of a best-selling distillery in Oswestry has spoken of his delight at being able to promote his products at the Houses of Parliament this week.

Henstone Distillery owner Chris Toller was joined at Westminster Hall last Tuesday by his son and sales manager Henry where they were greeted by North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan.

The distillery, which received significant investment from Mike Harris, businessman and owner of The New Saints earlier in 2023, was in London to promote its new whisky at a showcase put on by parliament.

“Along with 16 other English Whisky producers we introduced the fast growing category to a number of MPs, Lords and their support teams.

“We had amazing feedback on the whisky products we took down – these included our Single Malt Whisky; five-year-old aged Statement Single Malt Whisky; Ex-Peated Cask Finished Single Malt Whisky, and our Old Dog Corn Liquor.

“All of them went down a storm.

“We had great support from our local MP, Helen Morgan, who not only visited us on the day but also arranged for our whiskies to get to the venue and organised a tour of the Houses of Parliament for Henry and I afterwards.

“A very long day but well worth it.”

Mrs Morgan said she was delighted to join Chris and Henry at the showcase at Westminster Hall to celebrate the company.

She added that it was a chance to promote the best of the area and businesses in her constituency.

“This English Whisky Day, I was delighted to be joined in Parliament by Chris and the team from Henstone Distillery, based just outside Oswestry,” she said.

“We have such fantastic businesses in North Shropshire, and it is always lovely to see their products being sold down in Westminster as well as back home.

“As our local MP, I am passionate about putting our constituency on the map in Westminster.
