AN OSWESTRY woman expecting triplets says she and her partner were left stunned after receiving the news.

Anna Roberts, 23 and from Hengoed, has conceived triplets in her first pregnancy with partner Ryan Richardson, and they held a family gender reveal party last weekend to announced two girls and a boy.

She said that when she was at the scan, she and the member of staff carrying out the scan were left shocked by the appearance of two extra babies in the womb, which were conceived naturally.

And Anna added that Ryan was left with mixed feelings after the scan.

OTHER NEWS:

“We saw two of them on the scan and thought ‘ok, twins run in the family’ and then she went slightly over my tummy,” she said.

“We both looked at each other and the woman doing the scan said ‘did you see a third?’ and I replied that I did.

“We were all very shocked and she told me that I was only the second set of triplets she’d seen in her whole career, which must be definitely a few decades.

“To start with, there was a lot of strong language from Ryan because he couldn’t’ quite believe it himself and was quite shocked.

“He didn’t speak for about three days from the shock – he’s coping very well!

“He was quite impressed with himself (for making three in one go) but his mum was very shocked too. We were all very shocked.

“We’re having two girls and a boy but it seems the sisters are picking on each other already – they’re kicking each other and vice versa.

“I’m coming up to 20 weeks so there’s a long way to go.”

Anna said that because she is carrying triplets, there may be more monitoring than a standard pregnancy and says it will offer plenty of challenges but she is looking forward to it all.

She said: “I will get a lot more check-ups because it’s triplets – it’s going to be one every two weeks which will be scans and seeing the consultant and I’ve been sent to see a specialist in Birmingham to check me over.

“But other than that, they’re telling me to be as careful as I would be with one.

“But it’s going to be three of everything – three costs, three prams, three car seats and it will mean a new car and I don’t know who we’re going to get one of them.

“My little car is only a four seater.”
