Generous local organisations have funded the revamping of a section of a 60-mile footpath in Oswestry.
The Oswestry Ramblers and Oswestry Parish Paths Partnership (P3) collaborated with Shropshire Council’s Outdoor Partnership to re-route the section of Wat’s Dyke Way from Maesbury’s Montgomeryshire Canal to the A483 near Weston.
A spokesperson for P3 said: “This part of the way is notoriously boggy and has been re-aligned with gates replacing stiles in most cases to provide a more enjoyable experience and to make a safer crossing of the major trunk road where there is still a need to cross (but not walk alongside, as on the old route).

These numerous improvements are part of an ongoing project by both Oswestry Ramblers and P3 Group to enhance the local footpath network's accessibility and enjoyment.
Benefactors such as the Ramblers Holidays Charitable Trust and Oswestry Borderland Rotary Club have generously supported the venture, which affects the route running from Holywell in Flintshire to Llanymynech.
